Celebration of Learning

Thank you for visiting our ELL classroom during our Celebration of Learning! 

Many ELL/non-ELL students and their families visited our classroom to learn more about our ELL learning. Our classroom had many activities and games for everyone to enjoy and engage with during our night of learning and celebration.

This is our puppet theatre.
Learning Intention: Drama helps us develop confidence in our language skills and gives us an opportunity to practice language in different and interesting ways. 

This is our card table.
Learning Intention: Card games, like Go Fish help us learn new vocabulary and develop our listening skills.

This are a few of our Mystery Bag clues and objects.
Learning Intention: We begin each class by reading and listening to the clues given about a mystery object. This helps us develop our descriptive language, new vocabulary, and listening skills.

Student-Led Conferences

Thank you for visiting our ELL classroom during the Student Led Conferences, which was held just before the Spring Break. Many students and their families visited our classroom to engage with and enjoy the learning activities we have used during our ELL instruction so far.

Here are are few of our interactive stations. Students and families were welcomed to try our sorting, bead and wax sticks colour/shape activities, as well as our step by step listening and drawing activity.

Getting to Know Each Other

This week we spent time getting to know each other. We had discussions about our favourite books, movies, food, animals, hobbies and sports. We discovered that although we are all different, we also share similar interests.

I brought in some personal items to show and tell students about my favourite 
books, movies, food, animals, hobbies and sports.

We then had a group discussion.
Each student shared something about their interests.
